Accommodation in Florence

Will be in Florence for 3 nights- what area is good to stay in? Plan to visit Galleria dell'Accademia,Uffizi,Duomo, etc and take in the sights and eat gelato, drink coffee, vino and people watch.

Enter "Florence lodging" and/or "Florence accommodations" in the search box...you'll get a ton of threads and a ton of help!

Thanks checking now. Is the area near the train station far from many sights? Is it walkable to Duomo and Galleria? Have looked at map and doesn't look far.

Florence is so small, nothing is far from anything. Honestly. It's not like Rome or Paris where you have to choose between arrondissements, etc. I haven't stayed near the train station in years, but it's close enough to walk to everything. Assuming you're a walker (i.e., nothing is more than 10 blocks from anything else, approximately.)

We loved the Relais Grand Tour, where we stayed in October last year. Perfect location, absolutely amazingly beautiful accommodation, reasonably priced. http://www.florencegrandtour.com/

The area near the train station is very close to most sites and is imminently walkable to the Duomo and Galleria - maybe 10-15 minutes if it's crowded. As lucie said, everything is close in Florence.

thanks. Relais Grand Tour looks good or Dei Mori(bit further from station)

As Lucie said, Florence is a compact city. That said, you're better-off near the Uffizi as near Firenze SNM is fairly removed. Alternatively, you may want to consider staying on the near other side of the Arnaud River as a way to be close without getting scalped.
