Accommodation in Amsterdam

I am looking for accommodation in Amsterdam - houseboat, B&B or small hotel. I would like to keep the cost to approx $100.00 Canadian dollars for 2 people. I'll be in Amsterdam in September. Any suggestions?

Amsterdam is not known for inexpensive lodging. On the advice of some Fodorites I used Priceline for an upcoming trip, bid for a 4* in the Museum area and got the Nh Amsterdam Centre for $85 US/night. This is in July, peak season, so you may be able to do even better in September.

Stop by Tripadvisor.com and look up the Netherlands forum.

On the first page or 2 you'll find threads called "Bidding on a 4 star in the center" and the similar 5 star thread.

Use http://betterbidding.com and http://biddingfortravel.com and as Seamus says above, you'll get a 4 star or better for a 2 star price.

If you dig around, I'm sure you'll find something affordable!

I bid on Priceline last Oct and won a hotel in the Nh Amsterdam Centre in the Museum Quarter. It was around $65 a night and perfect. Easy to get to, clean and comfortable.

When in September? the IBC takes place every year and fills most accommodation available. This year it is from 9-14 September.

Of those Nomad224 lists only one is actually in Amsterdam - the others are quite a way from Amsterdam, and would be tricky with public transport.

Do check the hotel you are bidding for is actually in Amsterdam, preferably in or near the centre if you don't want to spend time and money travelling in to teh city every day.
If you are happy to do that then look at Haarlem maybe for nice hotels at good prices.

We were quite happy with our stay at the Hestia.

It's right by Vondel Park, and major museums, a block from the canals, good restaurantd nearby and excellent transportation. The raate includes a nice breakfast. I can't remember if the Wifi was free, but if it wasn't the charge was minimal. I really think it was free.
