Traveling to Rome in June. Best airfare may end up being another major European city, so my question is, which other cities have best train access to Rome, including best connection to train from airport?

If you have only the single destination why would you want to pay for a plane and a train to get there as well as the extra baggage handling involved? Incidentally I always find Paris the more expensive destination.

A train will almost always cost more than a budget flight. But you have to leave l-o-t-s of time between separately ticketed flights. If your flight in is delayed, your ticket out is worthless.

Thank you! These comments make sense, though I didn't know a train would cost more. I read the suggestion on another forum, is where I got the idea. IS there such a thing as a budget flight? That's encouraging! Currently I'm seeing price variations of only about $200 at most, which would not be worth it....but, say, $500 would be.
