? about reservation at Le Comptoir Paris

I just sent a fax to this restaurant for reservations end of April...got one back saying they are booked. We will be in Paris for a month which I told them. Has anyone been there? and do you think we could just walk down and try again? or fax again?Any ideas are welcome..

I'm not surprised that they are booked thru April for dinner..try lunch or even breakfast. If all else fails pick up take away at their place next door!

I meant to say that dinner there did not appeal to me.. there is NO choice...if they are serving lamb's brains that night that's what you get.

We had dinner at Le Comptoir and I will admit I was leary about the lack of choice. It wasn't a problem. There were no weird items. My suggestion for getting a seat at dinner is to call in the late afternoon and check if there are any cancellations or availability. Definitely go for lunch. Many of the lunch items appear as first courses for dinner and lunch in and of itself is very good. We liked that it was set up more like a brasserie in that they serve lunch late into the afternoon. We can't seem to be hungry for lunch between 12 and 2 or if we get hungry it is at 1:50 and it is hard to find a restaurant which will accomodate us. I don't know if the menu has changed but we had a wonderful lobster bisque with tiny raviolis in it, my husband loved the fresh tuna with a provencal flavor and I had a foie gras salad which had a very good vinaigrette and thin slices of foie gras terrine on it.

We went there for lunch at the end of September. Got there around 2:30 - 3:00 and had no problem getting a table without a reservation.

So does lunch end at 3????...no reservations needed for lunch..

I tried to make a reservation for July 23 but was told that they had nothing available because they give priority to those staying at their hotel Relais St Germain.

So I then made a reservation at the hotel and when I tried to make the dinner reservation I was told that they close July 14 through August 31 for vacation. Why did they not tell me that originally?

I cancelled the hotel reservation immediately.
