There are no stairs within the station itself. You can walk from the street curb on the NORTH side of the station directly to the train (there are a few steps if you enter on the south side). The only steps will be those to board the train itself.

I was in Italy with my Mum travelling from Florence to Rome recently. While not in a wheelchair, she was mid-eighties, with arthritis and needed assistance getting up the stairs of the train. The conductor was very helpful; in fact, it seemed to me as if Italians in general were very respectful of age and aided us on a number of occasions.

The hardest part will probably be the gap between the platform and the bottom step of the train. This is sometimes quite a gap, especially with luggage.
