Just wanted to report three of us in Nice, France, we’re able to successfully use the Abbott EMED test to be proven COVID negative. It was a easy quick connection just as when we used it in June.
|
mjs Did you use the test to enter France from the US? And the airline and/or France was fine with the BinaxNOW self test?

** Abbott EMED test to be proven COVID negative. **
Isn't EMED simply a company selling you the Abbott Binax test just like Walmart or Walgreen's sells it except it's far more expensive from EMED? |

There are two types of Abbott Binax tests - the rapid tests which you can purchase over the counter and administer yourself, and the proctored test, purchased through Emed and proctored through the NAVICA app. The proctored test is needed to get back to the US - the testing is witnessed by a proctor.

Currently if you are traveling from the USA to Italy you need both vaccination and a negative antigen or PCR test. The last official EU list of approved Antigen tests did not include the Abbott test as of this spring.

The EU has a list of approved COVID antigen tests last updated I believe on July 23. You can search for approved EU COVID antigen tests for all the information you want. I assume but do not know for sure whether or not counties like Italy that require a negative COVID test requires the Antigen test to be on the EU approved list. France does not currently require COVD tests for those entering the country from the US.

It wasn’t expensive. $69.00 for two tests, including shipping. So about $35.00 per person.

Or $150 for six tests. The website suggests at least two tests per person.

At Walgreen's and CVS they've been 2 for $23 and Walmart 2 for $14 (they are out). Although it seems none of them will mail them. Walgreens sells the Pixel PCR test, but it's $124.99. |
kybourbon - there are self-tests and there are self-administered proctored tests. IME the proctored tests are more expensive. If taking a self-test to get back into the US, it must be proctored.
