jmw, in Brittany, we liked the entire coast, staying in Paimpol as the first stop down to Pont Aven..the islands Batz, Ouessant, The famous Carnac(ancient menhir aligigements, the mysterious stones), an then off to see the salines of Guèrande where the fleur de sel is gathered
Forgot to mention The Pointe de Raz not to be missed. It's the most awesome spot in Brittany and inland we stopped at, Briere,One of France's largest wildlife reserves.I should have said I also love the Pays de la Loire and the Poitou Charente. You leave Brittany, I think when we crossed the wonderful bridge at St Nazaire, now into Pays. Our stop there was Pornic, where we faced the beach and watched the circus come to town from our balcany window,
the next day spent on the Ile de Noirmoutier. once only reached by boat but now we go over the most breathtaking Bridge I have ever been on. Too beautiful to describe, it really took my breath away. This and the Ponte de Raz and the Corniche to Batz-sur-mer were my favorite sites. Now we are going to our next stop in Sables DÓlonne, again our room facing the beach and the next day to the Ile de Ré. Our next stop is La Rochelle. At this pont we leave the Poitou Charente. A stop in St Giron before we get to our hotel in Bairritz and we are now in the Aquitane.
