A wet Spring in Madrid?

According to my weather source, it's been raining in Madrid for several days, if not weeks. Is this an exageration????
(I'm leaving Canada for Madrid in a few days, and crossing my fingers for warm, sunny weather)

You can forget about the rain. It's due to snow over the Easter weekend, with temps below freezing in the evenings and 2 to 3 C during the day.

Are you serious? Snow? God, I should stay in Canada!

It's currently a -5C and snowing! Happy Easter!

Madrid is situated on a high plateau and there are mountains nearby- with skiing in the winter. Although the south of Spain is usually very hot in the summer - Spain is a temperate climate - not a tropical one like the Caribbean. So - April is early spring - not summer.

Well, it has been raining for a few weeks, thatīs true. We had an early spring, and even a very sunny weekend around 4 weeks ago, but winter came back with a vengeance.

I came back for Easter holidays to Bilbao last weekend, and then we headed to Perigord (sunny and warm). We had snow when driving south from Pau into Jaca, and the rain has managed to cancel a few of the Easter processions in Seville.

My brother is now at my place in Madrid, and said that they were freezing this morning at El Escorial.

Weather forecasts are not really great for the next days. Check every now and then the following site : www.inm.es (it will help you).

You just never know about weather. It has been a cold and on and off showers even here in Seville during Holy Week.

This is the worst weather we have run into in our whole winter ( 5 months) in Spain.

That said Seville and Madrid were great in early March. I hope Madrid is nice when we get there later in April.

We had friends that would regularly go to Madrid for business this past winter and always had great and sunny weather.

I guess like most places, it is luck of the draw. ;) I hope it is sunny when you are there ( and me too). ;)
