A week north o f Nice

We have an extended family (6 kids, 2 grandparents, 4 parents) staying in an estate north of Nice this June 2006. We are looking for excursions, tours and great places to eat. Any ideas?! Has anyone done any rafting in Gorge Verdon?

Much appreciated, Liz

We did not do rafting in the Gorge Verdon, but drove through the area.

It is really lovely.

Have a great time.

What are your interests? There's much to see and do in the area, but it would help to know what kinds of activities you enjoy.

Hi Underhill - we like museums but only for 1/2day at a time. We appreciate good food and wine in not so stuffy places. We are physically active so a bit of hiking or rafting would be nice. We enjoy scenic towns (as opposed to busy cities)where we can soak up a bit of local culture. I'd like to see lavender fields and perfume production.

Thanks, Liz

My wife and I went that way through the gorge. Absolutely beautiful, BEYOND. On the road north, you will come to a town called Touet Sur Var, there is an excellent franch/italian restaurant there on the rt. side of the road, middle of town, impossible to miss. The food is incredible and the views even better.
