A week in the French Pyrenees
My husband and I will spend a week in the Pyrenees, southwest of Toulouse.
Will be driving down from Sarlat toward Toulouse and leave at the end of the week toward Bordeaux. We would like to stay in no more that 2 B and Bs and do our day trips from these locations. We are not hikers, but drivers. Could anyone suggest which towns would serve best as hubs for our day trips and if you could suggest any good B &Bs at these locations that you have used, or heard good things about. Thank you so much for your help. Sue |
You could base yourself in Argelès-Gazost (it has a casino) and drive to the Col du Tourmalet and the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, to Gavarnie and take a mule ride to the Cirque de Gavarnie, or go over the Col d'Aubisque and up the vallée d'Ossau to take a cable car and then a little train ride to the Pic du Midi d'Ossau (the lac d'Artouste). Each of these excursions would be the good part of a day.
