A week in Reykjavik

Hello everybody,

Is it worth/too long spending a week just in Reykjavik? Because of budget issues, I can't make it to any other places in Iceland. I just want to stay put in one place, and I'm wondering whether just visiting Reykjavik is worth it or spending a week there would be too long.

Thanks.

Reykjavik for a week would get a bit boring, in my opinion. But using it as a home base you could do a Golden Circle tour, a day at the Blue Lagoon, and maybe some other day trips. I still think it's a bit too long--4-5 days may be more appropriate.

Hi I'd have to agree with Katrinab that a week may be a bit too long for Reykjavik. You may be best splitting the trip up if possible (4 nights in Reykjavik and 3 nights in the Snaefellsnes area) which shouldn't impact too much on budget.

Things to do from Reykjavik would include

A Whale Watching Trip - (1/2 day)
Golden Circle Tour (Full Day)
Blue Lagoon (1/2 day)
Horse Riding (1/2 or Full day)
Sightseeing in Reykjavik (Harbour/shops/Observation Dome/Museums/Park/Lake) - (1 or 2 days)

In addition to the above a quick search of 'Excursions from Reykjavik' on google brought up more ideas but all come at a cost which you may not have.
