A week in Ireland

Anyone got advice for places to go/see? We have 3 days in Dublin then off travelling around. We like historical sites, natural beauty, literary places.

I would recommend taking a trip to see www.irelandyes.com - this is a site dedicated to Ireland travel, and will have a lot of info, and a great forum too!

I agree with GreenDragon. Also, get some travel guides on Ireland and come back here again when you know a little more about Ireland.

Check www.irelandexpert.com lots of good info and Pat, who runs the site will answer questions very accurately for you. I used info from her site to plan our trip last summer and she has great info for places to stay throughout Ireland plus lots of good info on the major sights.

I live in Dublin and here are a few suggestions:

The irish tourist board has good info. http://www.ireland.ie/

Bus Eirean has tours to Newgrange
http://www.buseireann.ie/site/your_j.../day_tours.asp
And another crowd http://www.city-discovery.com/dublin/tour.php?id=126

Newgrange is an ancient tomb believed to be where the Toiseach's (Chief, head honch's) were buried. Its amazing see info on newgrange itself http://www.knowth.com/newgrange.htm

The Chester beatty Library is Amazing and the largest collection of Asian art in Europe. It is directly behind Dublin castle beasie the garden. Eat in the Sil Road Cafe in the Museum. Its sort of lebabese/med style food and beautiful. Its is cafeteria style and you can pick and choose. The coffee is excellent and strong here as well.

here is the dublin bus tour and other tours they offer http://www.irishcitytours.com/

If you like natural beauty tke a tour down to Glendolough and there is a trip that stops in Powerscourt first. It is so beautiful and there are loevly walks in the woods here. Part of braveheart was filmed here.

This is a link to the Musical pub crawl Its fun for the evenings
http://www.discoverdublin.ie/musicalpubcrawl.html

And the literary pub crawl
http://www.dublinpubcrawl.com/booking_page.htm

There is lots more to do but this is a start!
