A week in Germany etc.

Hello,
I am flying into Frankfurt Late September to meet a colleague and will then travel with her to Munich for a few days (i think for a piece of Oktoberfest). I have about a week-10 days (kind of flexible). I have the option of hanging with my friend in Munich or taking off on my own and doing my own thing - meaning, I can fly home from anywhere really.
I have never been to Europe and I know this is barely enough time to see anything but should I try to squeeze in some other countries/sites? Any ideas?
Thanks!

I wouldn't try to do other countries. Stay in one or two spots and get to know them. Have the attitude that you will return for other places.

Germany is a beautiful country. There is plenty to do around both Munich and Frankfurt. Maybe if you tell us what your interests are, we could make suggestions.

You know that the answer is "No".

Enjoy your week in Germany.

A qualified No. If in Munich, you could make a daytrip or, preferably, an overnight stay in Salzburg.

Salzburg is a really nice city and has great day trips from it - St Gilgen, Berchtesgaden/Konigsee, etc. I would recommend splitting your time between Munich & area and Salzburg & area.
