A tasty trip in Castellina in Chianti
 

Just finished our trip in Tuscany. We have been pretty tired, but very happy.
Here a day by day itinerary.
First morning we slept in to catch up on some much needed rest.
Our Villa here is very quiet, making it easy to sleep in. It's called Fiorita and we booked on www.vacavilla.com

We did get out and going around noon. Headed to see a couple nearby villages. What’s great about this area, is you can drive anywhere and run into one. All the back roads are quite charming and scenic. Took some pictures from the car of towers, castles and hills.

We ended up in Greve. Our information book, recommended a restaurant.
It was a nice lunch. Wasn’t overly impressed with the town of Greve though. We did go to a wine shop there that was fun, got to try all different types of Italian wine. Which are alright. Very drinkable. Cheaper here, that's for sure!
Then we went driving around. Found a rustic out of the way winery and tasting there. Cute place, glad we stopped. Did buy two of his bottles, 20 euros.
Down the road in Castellina in Chianti we stopped to take some photos. Very charming place.
Still a beautiful country. I've just been in awe of it's rolling hills and gorgeous structures perched on top of them. Everything is so green and lush. It's been so fun just driving and driving and looking at everything.

We cooked in that night, pasta hand made!
I slept well. Then again, get out, but that's another day ...

Thanks for the report. I assume you visited La Cantina in Greve and that was the shop with the automatic wine dispensers purchased with a debit card? And what was the name of the "rustic out of the way winery"?

I was in Greve last week and they were having their Chianti festival. All the wine booths were set up in the piazza. You paid 10€ for your glass and you could select 4 wines from the first very long booth that had about 100 wines. It wasn't just Chianti as they also had some blends and Vin Santo. Riserve wines were two punches off your wine card.

You then had three punches for the other wine booths that were manned by each particular vineyard. Many booths had their oils and other products to try.

I understand the second week they have more selective wines than they do the first week. I don't know if thay changes the price of your wine card or not.

the shop was "Bottega Del Chianti Classic" and the rustic "Fattoria Montagliari".
