You need a plug adaptor so the plug will fit into the wall socket. Mouse over the various adaptors to locate the one you need for France (and much of Europe).

Or mousse over them if you have any left.

I think that http://tinyurl.com/2y9zvv will clear up the electrical shock for some of you.

WOW, those conair adapters are expensive. Here's another site for plugs/converters.

I dont know about you all, but when we traveled to Spain last year, we made the mistake of buying this one converter/adapter from Brookstone: The Universal Voltage Converter for Travel.
http://www.brookstone.com/store/prod...=Result*R1C1*A

The plugs were two pronged alright, but the outlets were sucken in! So of course the adaptor converter prongs were not long enough.

I would go with this one. It can snugly fit in the sunken-in outlet: http://www.brookstone.com/store/prod...=Result*R4C1*A

But to comment on blowdryers and curling irons, I would buy them in Europe. I bought my hairdryer in London, store called Boots. Pricey, but worth it. It has all the convertibles for all the countries, including U.S.! Even has a voltage adjustment knob. Worthington Travel Hair Dryer. (For the hair dryer connoisseurs, i bought it five years ago and still pretty good. I can compare it to expensive hairdryers such as the supersolano. I swear by it and never travel without).

>>>Just wanna check and be sure, so if both my 2-proned cell phone and digi camera's chargers have 100v-240v written on them, that means that I can simply plug them in the outlet in France/Italy right?<<<

YES! is the only answer you need for that question. All the countries in Europe have voltages within that range. Just get a plug adapter such as that mentioned by Robespierre: tinyurl.com/23eps6.

Even worse ;-), the long distance networks are fully integrated. Last year when RWE disabled a high power line somewhere in Westphalia, to make an oversized truck pass a bridge, the lights went out in part of Paris, and just a few seconds later in quite a lage area around Madrid too. Looks like they're still sueing ;-)

Let's not complicate the issue any further. ;-)
