A quick question on overnight train

Hi,
My husband and I are finalizing the itinerary for our first trip in Spain. We plan to take overnight train from Barcelona to Cordoba to save some time and money, but can't figure out which type of ticket to choose. Can anyone tell me whether Firstdouble is a cabin for two? How much difference is there between Firstdouble and Deluxedouble?
We also plan to rent a car and drive to Sevilla, Ronda and Granada. Is there any good website to rent car?
Thanks a lot!

Hi F,

Try www.autoeurope.com and www.novacarhire.com for car rental.

The "first double" is a sleeping compartment with two bunk beds. The compartment has a wash basin, but toilets are along the corridor at the end of the carriage. The "de luxe" version is a "Gran Clase" sleeping compartment which has a shower and toilet. If you can afford the price, it might be worth the extra luxury, but the standard two-berth compartments should be comfortable.

For cars, lots of people use:

www.e-sixt.com

in Spain.

I believe Gran Classe may also include an evening meal and breakfast.

Yes, welcome drink, dinner, breakfast and a newspaper are all included in "Gran Clase". The beds are 190 by 77 cm, and the cabins have a card key. Details in Spanish are on RENFE's web site:
