A question for all Europe experts

Hi!
I'm looking to plan a vacation for April 2008.
Does anyone know of a place in Europe that has beaches and is warm enough to swim in April?
Thanks for your advice!

Yes, I highly recommend Spain. We were there in December and it was warm enough to swim. We went to the little know town of Alicanti. A 3 hour train ride from Madrid, that sits on the Meditteranean. You can take a short train ride north to Benidorm, which is a huge British resort. So everthing, even the menus are in English. I can't wait to go back.

The southern coast of Crete might work, also.

Cadaques on the Costa Brava in Spain is fabulous. A beautiful, small village where many artists have lived. Dali's house and museum is nearby. An easy drive from Barcelona.

While I agree with Cadaqués being a beautiful village, it's rarely warm enough in April to swim in the sea. The average air temp in April is only between 16-20°C.

April is dicey for swimming anyplace in europe.

We were in Marbella in late April and it was in the high 70's during the day. Hotel pool was open and being used We waded in the Med - but other people thought it was too cold for swimming. (It seemed fine to us - but we're used to the North Atlantic.)

If you mean warm water - you're too early in the year.

No place in Europe will guarantee you a beach-weather holiday in April. You have a better chance in places like the Greek Isles, Sicily, coast of Spain -- but the weather is still waaaay too iffy even in those places.

These people have it right. I have even been in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt in April and was glad to be wearing warm clothes and protection against the rain. Spain, Portugal, Crete? No guarantees, that's for sure.

Canary Islands.

Canary Islands. Swam there in November, and in March. Nights chilly but days warm.

Canaries. No-where else will definitely be warm enough.
