Well, so? What're a few germs? How else does one keep one's immune system in practice, up and running strong?

Mucky Dec 16th, 2005 04:49 AM

Just don't eat any of the peanuts left on the bar by the landlord......
I remember reading about a survey once and some peanuts from a bowl on the bar in a pub were scientifically checked and had several different peoples urine on them..lol

Sorry did I put you off your dinner ;-)

I had an uncle who tried to commit suicide by squeezing a lime peel and the tossing it in his drink. We had him committed -- obviously deranged and dangerous to himself and others.

caroline_edinburgh Dec 16th, 2005 07:45 AM

What has this to do with travel ?

AisleSeat Dec 16th, 2005 08:09 AM

What I hate is when they squeeze their lime and toss the peel in MY drink.

Mucky Dec 16th, 2005 11:27 AM

caroline.....to do any of these things we need to TRAVEL to the pub, concert hall, opera house etc etc etc.....

strange, uninteresting topic that has nothing to do with travel.

do what you want and don't be bothered by what other people do with their fruit.

caroline_edinburgh Dec 20th, 2005 02:09 AM

Hi Muck. Looking forward to next TRAVELLING to Cardiff, to see Bryn in 'The Flying Dutchman' in Feb ! I daresay G&Ts will be involved :-)

I squeeze and put the lemon or lime or orange or whatever into the drink. And then after I finish the drink I fish it out and eat it.

And you whatever you constitute as germs, the alcohol probably is worse for you :P

RufusTFirefly Dec 20th, 2005 05:21 AM

AisleSeat--In Molvania it is considered the ultimate come-on when someone tosses their fruit refuse into your drink. Especially given the cost of a lemon or lime there--the equivalent of 75 euro per slice of fruit.

As a result of the cost, less affluent Molvanians (about 99.89% of the population) frequenting Molvania's singles bar will hurl melon rinds into a stalking victim... er, potential mating object's mulled gopher's milk. Fortunately mulled gopher's milk is also widely used in hairstyling.

RufusTFirefly Dec 20th, 2005 05:21 AM

Oops, a typo in my prior posting. That should be 99.99%, not 99.89%.

Hi Caroline, A Bryn fan eh!
Great although not totally my cup of tea, he is a talented lad.
Will u stay in Cardiff for a couple of days?

Hi Muck. Yes the idea currently is to stay with friends on the Friday night (if they have a roof back on by then !) & stay at Jolyon's (in the "Christopher Ecclestone Room" :-) ) on the Saturday when we're at the opera. We stayed there last time & it's very nice, & has quite a good bar in the cellar. Have you been on the tour of the WMC ? If not I highly recommend it. Regards, Caroline.

I'd rather worry about the chemical sprays on the lime peel then about germs!

Tulips Dec 21st, 2005 07:19 AM

On the subject of germs, do have a look at the thread on the US board about bringing seat covers for your airplane seat to protect agains germs. Apparently, lime peel in a drink is the least of our problems.

Fortunately mulled gopher's milk is also widely used in hairstyling.

Rufus, fortunately, because that sour gophers milk scent warns you that they ( Molvanian suiters) are right behind you when they get into that every 3 month Rutting season.

OK, it gets better... I gotta stop drinking ;)

If there is not a slice of lime, but a maruschino (spell?) cherry with a stem, what would you do with the stem?

Not to swallow I hope :)

You put it in the ashtray.

(Whoops..guess I'm a little behind the times.)
