A new Paris hotel opening 6/04: Esprit Saint Germain

I happened upon this hotel listing on one of those booking agency sites (Exclusive Hotels http://www.hotels-exclusive.com/paris.htm ). This hotel wasn't there until just recently. It's called Esprit Saint Germain and it's on 22 rue St. Sulpice, 6th district. They have a website but it's not under construction. There's a message saying there's a grand opening on 6/15/04 and an email address. So it supposedly just opened last week.
I know others have mentioned the rue St. Sulpice area as being a good one. So this looks like another good choice for anyone wanting to be in this particular area. I think it'll be competing with the Relais St. Sulpice then since they are closeby.

Sorry, I meant to say that the website "is under construction."

This used to be the Hotel du Senat, according to results on google. Here is an article about the renovation/new ownership:

Here is a site that does have photos etc.

I had tried to locate Hotel du Senat on the internet recently. No wonder I could not find its website.

Thanks for the article link. It says opening is July 1st so they have postponed their grand opening from June 15th. Those rates are astronomical. I mean how can they justify charging so much? I'm sure the rooms are tiny.

Sometimes I'm glad I have to stick with more modest hotels. It would drive me nuts to pay bigger bucks and still have 'complaints' about the room (too small, too noisy, whatever).
If there's going to be a flaw anyway, I prefer it to be a cheaper rate ;)

What, the cheapest room is 290 euros? How big are the suites to justify rates at 700-750 euros?
If I will pay that amount I may as well pay a bit more and stay at the Bristol!

How can they justify charging so much?

Because there will always be someone willing to pay that amount. But it won't be me!
