Thanks for posting, Carolyn. Don't you wonder why these agencies book you into seats that aren't great when there were obviously better seats available? Yep, that's why I like calling the theatre direct!

Patrick, I agree with you on calling the theatre directly. Patricia Routledge and Richard Dreyfuss right around the corner! Can't wait!

Ooops. Maybe you haven't heard, rj007, but Richard Dreyfus is NOT doing The Producers in London. He has been replaced by Nathan Lane. Supposedly it is a health issue, but there is no announcement of when or if Mr. Dreyfus will take over as originally planned.

No, Patrick, I hadn't heard that. Thanks for the update. I'm sure it will still be a good show, although, having been a long time fan of Richard's that would have been good. Still, theatre in London - enough said.

I just read that Penelope Keith (another British actress best known to Americans for her roles in several Britcoms that have been shown here on public TV, including To the Manor Born and The Good Neighbors) will be playing Madame Arcati in a revival of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit at the Savoy Theatre in London. Performances begin on November 16 (with an opening night of November 22), and are scheduled to run through May 28, 2005.

The Solid Gold Cadillac doesn't close until January 15, so anyone who's fortunate enough to be in London betwen November 16 and January 15 will have the opportunity to see both Patricia Routledge and Penelope Keith onstage.

I saw The Solid Gold Cadillac last month, and enjoyed it very much. I have to admit, I bought my ticket solely on the strength of Patricia Routledge's presence in the cast, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the play itself, and the rest of the cast (almost all of them, anyway) were. I thought they made the right decision in not updating the play from the 1950's, when it was written, but some of the old dollar amounts produced unintentional laughs, as when Patricia Routledge's character expresses horror at the idea that the CEO of a corporation in which she owns stock is being paid the princely salary of $150,000!

Yes, I just got that announcement. Boy these things are enticing me to journey to London, but my travel budget it long shot for the year. Anybody want to start a "SEND PATRICK TO LONDON" travel fund?
