A hotel for one night in Rome at reasonable cost..

I'm planning on going on a big tour of Greece and Italy with a group from the University of Dallas this summer. I found out that I don't have go with the main airline flight to Rome as long as I can be there in time to meet up with the group to continue on to Greece. If I choose this route I could save about $400 to $600 off the U.S. Airways fare. To do this I'm planning on flying out there a day early to avoid any potential of missing the group, so I am looking for a decent hotel for a 1 night stay for less than $125. Any suggestions? No flames or smart aleck remarks please, I teach high school and have enough of those to deal with.

Aberdeen Hotel, via Firenze 48, Rome, Italy. Telephone 064823920. www.travelit/roma/aberdeen or [email protected]. It is near Termini Station, very clean and friendly service.

About 2 years ago, I was researching Rome but did not go. There were plenty of hotels that had a bed and TV (I figured that the place was too spartan if there was no TV - ugly American?). In fact, $125 is a very generous budget. You will probably find some places at $75-85. I just used the search engines. Sorry I forgot the names of the hotels.

Try the Albergo Abruzzi on the Pantheon square or piazza. it is very reasonable and funky, but you won't have to put up auto traffic, motorcycle and vespa sounds all night. also, there is a great gelato bar about 2 blocks off the square.
