A "guy" question about Positano

I KNOW there are literally thousands of threads on here about Positano- indeed, if anything ath's what puts me off the search:)

Three of my pals are going to Italy to watch the football. They fly into Naples, and are intending to stay overnight in Positano or thereby en route to bari where they spend two nights.

They are hiring a big car (they are big guys), and they are looking for recommendations on where to stay and where to eat in Positano.

I wouldn't say money was no object, but we need not necessarily think budget here...especially for the meal.

They are genuinely interested in fine buildings and architecture, and want to go and see trulli in Puglia as well as the fine things on the Amalfi coast.

Can any of you fine people recommend anything?

Hi Sheila,

In Montepertuso (above Positano)
La Tagliata (www.latagliata-positano.it). It is high, high above Positano in the town of Montepertusso. If your hotel calls for a reservation, they will send a free car for you. Many recommendations.. 089-875872

Donna Rosa, Via Montepertuoso 97/99 tel 089/811806
just over 4km from the heart of Positano. Open for lunch 12.00-15.00 from Wed-Sun

Ira, that's great. Hotel? (I think it would have to have parking)

I recommend Villa Rosa. Perfect location not too far up the hill. Eat at any of the restaurants down on beach. You will love Positano!!

any more for any more?

Well if money is no object I wouldn't recommend Villa Rosa. Not a money-is-no-object hotel. It is my personal favorite, but money is a big object for us. I say stay at Le Sireneuse or one of the swankier places.

Try googling for onda verde, a fun hotel in Priano. Middle priced, park right off the Amalfi Drive and take the elevator DOWN.

Hi

Da Costantino Restaurant. Inexpensive, authentic and with killer views.

The Hotel Posiedon is very nice, fairly lux, but not as formal as la Serenuse. And it has the absolutely best food. Really. Very nice service, very guest oriented, friendly but still quite nice.
