We ask you to keep the focus on cruise travel: tips, advice, trip reports, et cetera; to keep the discussion civil at all times; and to avoid profanity. Disagreement is fine -- we welcome a diversity of opinions -- but rudeness is not. (This includes calling someone an idiot, either in lowercase letters or all caps.) The site monitors have been instructed to delete all posts and threads that are not about cruise travel or whose tone is not civil. Additionally, we do not allow plagiarism, which includes the cutting and pasting of material from other copyrighted or uncopyrighted sources. (But it’s fine to give the URL of a New York Times story related to cruise travel, for instance.) And we do not allow commercial promotion. This includes plugs by travel agents or their friends/proxies posting e-mail or Web-site addresses. We welcome the contributions of all travelers, regardless of their profession, but this forum is for traveler-to-traveler advice, not commercial promotion. A brief note about how we monitor this site: We can in some cases "clean up" a thread by deleting a couple of inappropriate posts, but the process simply becomes too time-consuming when a thread has turned into a flame war or is riddled with profanity. We sometimes have to cut our losses and hope the topic will resurface. Our apologies to Fodorites whose legitimate posts or threads get lost in this shuffle. We’re presently in the planning stages of the next upgrade of the site, and registration is definitely among the items we’re considering. Adding registration would not occur overnight, however, as have a relatively small staff here at Fodors.com and there are engineering and other issues that would have to be addressed. Our sincere apologies for all the peculiar posts on the site this week and last. As it turns out, quite a few of them are from the same person posing as several people (taking several sides of various issues, including registration). Instructions to users - - like how to search, how to compose a message header, how to cite a previously posted thread, the use of the country "tags" etc. 2. "Clickable" (hot) links? 3. Support for the euro symbol And finally perhaps - - the ability to edit your own post, when posted with (one or more) horrible typos. This might require registration to ensure that only the original poster could change his/her own words, but that would be so worthwhile.

Did you notice "Need Help?" at the top of the page? The answers to some of your questions are there.

The answers to some of your questions are there. Hmmm... yes, two out of four are answered there. Is this new? I don't think I have seen it before. It points to the FAQs still as well. And those contain some out of date info, like the notice about how to get a reply to a first reply to a post. Hasn't worked for a long time, I think.

And we just learned how to make the euro sign on the euro thread: & immediately followed by the word euro immediately followed by a semicolon. & euro; (but no space after the &) €

Here is the exact thing to type to create the euro symbol, so that people don't get confused. € But implicitly, there is a mystery here. How did I type this without it displaying €?

Did you use the escape sequence for ampersand? I'll try &euro;

So to get it to type as what you would type and not €, you type &amp;euro;

It appears that you have to type the numeric code for ampersand; not & but rather & to get € Is that confusing enough?

Two questions: How would registration work, what would we do? Second: Does the Fodor office know now where each post is originating? When you send an email your id pops up, it most at Fodors too.
