A few questions about Berlin

PalQ's trip report got me thinking about Berlin as one of my stops in January. Do you all think 4 days is enough time in Berlin and also with is only knowing the basics in German language enough to get by with. I mean is English widely spoken? Should I know better than to ask such questions?

Four days is plenty, and don't stress about the language. A few basic phrases and a smile will get you far. "Ein Bier, bitte?"

You will only see a fraction of things to see in four days. It's a huge city with numerous sights, and you can certainly enjoy four days very easily. English seemed to be more widely spoken this time around than last (2006 vs. 2004), but maybe that was just coincidence.

You are most welcome. Please be sure to let us know how you decided to fill your four days!

In my experience, I found Germans to be friendly and helpful. And no, I dont speak any Germans (maybe enough just to exchange greetings). I was approached by a few people who volunteered to assist me w/ directions etc. Have a wonderful time. I am going back next fall...
