A few days in Rhodes...
Hi. We are flying Rome - Rhodes in Sept. and plan to stay a few days before crossing to Turkey. Can someone recommend a cheap little pension preferably in an old part of town with small restaurants and interesting walks?
We ferry out to Marmaris so perhaps it makes sense to stay near the port. Then again we could extend the stay and day- trip to another island if Rhodes proves too touristy. thank you |
I loved PINK ELEPHANT, definitely in Old Part of town, right near the Wall, and Near the Gate of Athanasios (locals also call it St Francis' Gate because church of St. Francis is just outside). a B & B run by a chic Milanese... a lot of French visitors because she speaks good french. Ask for a "first floor" room rather than Ground floor... nice breakfasts up on terrace there. Back i n2006 it cost us 32€ + 4€ for breakfast including croissants, fruit, yogurt.

I stayed here: http://www.spothotelrhodes.gr/ Good location in the Old Town and friendly owner. Loved Rhodes!

One comment, there is not much distance between what is known as the new town and the old town. It is all easy walking distance. So stay where you find the best deal because it won't make much difference. If you decide to stay at a hotel in the new town you are only a short walk to the old town, like 10 minutes.

But do be careful that you don't end up on resort row, on the way into town.

Yes I will try to avoid that!
I thought a small pension in the Old Town would have the nicest atmosphere perhaps, and be closer to our departure ferry port. |
