A Day in Positano

My wife and I will be in Positano on Oct. 6 for the day and we were looking for suggestions for the perfect day in Positano. Any suggestions?

It really depends on the weather at that time. But in the hope that it's good, and assuming that you are arriving by road and that you are OK for walking:

Walk from a mile or so before the bus terminal and get a feel for the town.Once at the bottom of the village road, you'll be at the terminus and at the start of the walkway/steps that take you through the shops and down to the beach.

There are places to eat and watch the sea from down there. On the way down, you can shop till you drop at all the small boutique type places perched on the side of the walkway. there's a small church just before the beach.

From the beach look back up at the town as it cascades down the hillside. Positano is steep but well worth seeing.

I think of Positano as more a hang-out than a day destination, because its pleasures sink in over time. There are only a few activities: admire the views, eat and drink, shop, chill at a pool or the beach, walk in the hills, and of course, how to say it politely -- rekindle romance.

In early October you may still have good weather, so I'd plan at some time on the beach, a good lunch. Maybe a boat ride along the shore. Look at some of the boutiques, if that's you thing, maybe a dinner at Le Sirenuse, overlooking the town.

Take a look, Bob.
Just hang out and enjoy the spectacular beauty.

So shopping, eating and the beach. Sounds like a plan. Thank you all for your suggestions.

Take the seafront walk along the Via Positanesi d'America past the Saracen watchtower, the Torre Trasita (now a rental property), to Fornillo beach...

Try to have lunch at La Guarracino, a restaurant perched on the cliffside overlooking the sea. It will take your breath away. This is quite possibly the most romantic restaurant I have ever been to; oh, and the food will knock your socks off!

I so agree with judy about La Guarracino; we went there twice during our stay in Positano; then sent our son there on his honeymoon. DH recommends the lemon pasta.

A day in Positano should be just that - a day of strolling, sitting, sipping, possibly some shopping - depends on the weather of course. It is simply beautiful.

You will pass Lo Guaraccino when you take the walk I recommended:
