A day in London
 

This Saturday my boyfriend and I are off to London for the day. We have our train tickets booked, arriving in London at 9.30 a.m. and leaving on the last train at 20.15.

The main part of our day is decided, we have tickets to see a matinee of Guys and Dolls.

But what shall we do for the rest of it? I need some ideas! I have been to London many times, and have wandered around the areas around Covent Garden/Leciester Square/Chinatown/Piccadilly/Regent Street/Ox ford street many times, been on the London Eye a couple of times. Does any one have suggestions for how we can spend our morning. I'd like to do something we haven't done before. Also suggestions for places for lunch, and early drinks/eats in the evening, fairly near to Piccadilly Theatre, would be good.

Well I'd like to see something in London I haven't before. Maybe a park, a church, a museum... anything really! I just need some ideas..

After a bit of surfing the web, visiting St Pauls seems a good option, it seems all the scaffolding is off now? Its near the Millenium Bridge, and I haven't seen that.

As for eating options, budget around £25 a head. I'm thinking Italian, but maybe some kind of asian fusion sounds good too. But open to suggestions.

As for drinks, I'm thinking more of a cozy pub style place than a swanky bar. Or somewhere where you can sit outside and people watch.

For the morning, try Borough Market. You could combine that with a stroll along the South Bank to see the Millennium Bridge and St Pauls if you fancy it, or stick to Tate Modern and/or the Shakespeare exhibition at the Globe; or do it the other way round, St Pauls first and over the bridge. Plenty of opportunities for riverside eating and drinking.

For museums, one of my favorites is the Victoria and Albert. They also have a nice restaurant for lunch or tea.

I'll second the Victoria and Albert. One of the best museums in Europe but St. Paul's is a nice option. How about the British Museum?

How about the National Portrait Gallery? Even if you are not usually an art fan I think the NPG is great because you feel immediately connected to the paintings as you recognise the subjects. Also has the benefit of being very central to town and close to Picadilly.
