A couple of questions about Cinque Terre

Hi,

1. Would you consider 3 nights enough to visit Cinque Terre?

2. Where would you base?

3. Any hotel recommendation?

Thanks!

Yes, I would think 3 nights is a good minimum. I have been there only once, and we stayed two nights. Another night would have been better. We really enjoyed Vernazza, and our room at http://www.cdh.it/giuliano/. We haven't been back since 2002. But we dream about it, and feel certain we will get back there sometime.

No offense, but I'd agree more with Lucie than with motor city girl. There is little doubt that Villa Steno is the nicest hotel in the entire CT. So why wouldn't I stay there? Because it isn't so different from many other hotels we'd stay at anywhere else in Italy. And Monterosso is the largest and most "uncharacteristic" of the rustic qualities of the CT villages. We loved Marina Piccola and Manarola because they were both so small, charming, and at night seemed miles from the tourist rush of the CT.

Neo, we were there in April so it was very quiet too. I agree we would have maybe been disappointed in Monterosso in high season.

We sat on our balcony at night and all we could hear were waves crashing and lemon trees russeling...it was lovely. We chose Villa Steno because it was a hotel but others certainly look for different venues.

Too each her own and no offense taken.
