A chance of an unusual souvenir
The entire contents of Heathrow Terminal 1 are to be auctioned off ( and no, this story isn't from last Sunday).

Hmmm... I always wanted a B747 in my backyard. :)
|
Given the roster of guests we have coming this summer, I think the International Arrivals sign would look just dandy over the gates to our house.
|
I can't decide whether I want a baggage carousel or an escalator.
|
I'm taking the baggage carousel, setting it up in the backyard. It will be the new playground for the grand kiddos!!
|
WC?
|
God, I just saw those tubular corridors that one took to get to most of the Aer Fungus gates and my blood ran cold.
|
I was thinking of a baggage carousel that circulates continuously around our living room, bearing the remote control, the crossword puzzle, a few books, my husband's reading glasses, the Bluetooth headset, and both of our phones.
But don't worry, Nanabee, Terminal 1 has enough baggage carousels for all who want one! |

You're probably right, Patrick. And I think the escalator would have to start in our neighbor's garden to reach our door.
I'll just pass, thank you. |
Yes, it's important to narrow it down. Italy has over 800 islands, of which about 80 are inhabited. They extend all the way from the lagoon of Venice down nearly to the African coast, then up through the Tyrhhenian sea to the coast of Liguria. The biggest islands, Sicily and Sardegna, could each consume a whole two weeks apiece on their own.
The most famous islands, apart from the two largest, are probably Elba, Isola del Giglio, Ischia, Capri, Procida, the eight Aeolian islands, Lampedusa, the Tremiti Islands off the Gargano peninsula, and the islands in the Venetian lagoon, of which Murano, Burano, and Torcello are the largest and best known. All of these are visited by tourists. I'm probably missing some. I've never heard of a tour that specializes in island hopping in Italian waters. |
bvlenci Wrong thread perhaps?
|
I wondered about that, as well, natylou. I thought we were still talking about the carousel, and I had trouble picturing one that was big enough to take one's luggage all the way to Italian islands. :)

bvlenci: I'm pretty sure you meant to post to this thread . . .

Oops, too many tabs open!
I've copied it to the right topic, but I can't delete it here; there's no edit icon. Maybe there's a time limit. |
Now there was a duplicate of my last post. I can edit it but not delete it. So just ignore this one.
|
bvlenci. You can click the triangle next to your post and ask the editors to remove it because it is on the wrong thread.
(the edit icon goes away after a period - not sure how long. Maybe an hour?? I know I've been able to edit 10 or 15 minutes after posting but an hour or two later the edit button is gone.) |
Janis, I thought of using the triangle, but it has a message saying,
"This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts." I was afraid I would end up blocking myself if I reported my own post. |
>>I was afraid I would end up blocking myself if I reported my own post.<<
I don't think that would happen . . . I have seen one or two other times since the new format where people have used the triangle to ask to have something changed or deleted. But maybe that could be a concern, so you can always post a thread on the Tech Support board. I've also seen that -- like when someone recently asked to have a Trip Report flag added. It seems they have been pretty responsive. |
