Ok to answer questions about a/c in June in San Gimignano, or nearby where I stayed, Pancole. It was a strange arrival in Europe, they were experiencing unusually low temps (60 i Zurich) though as our trip went on temps rose into the 90s in which it was almost a welcomed warmth but did get hot. Our apartment was never uncomfortable even with 90s heat.....it remained dry heat and was most manageable if you sealed your room/apt yet ventilated it properly during the day. Quite pleasant sleeping.

<<Summer of 2003 was about a once in 50 year occurence.>>
We're only two years later and it's exactly the same now ...

We just got back from 2 weeks in Italy, including Tuscany. It was incredibly hot! Our tour guide in Sienna said it had been 100 degrees F. the evening before at 6 PM. It was terribly hot and humid in all of the areas we visited and we would have died without air-conditioning in our hotels. It was between 90 and 100 degrees F everywhere we went and it didn't cool off significantly at night. Air conditioning is a must so far this summer!!!!!!!
