Thanks for sharing your travelogue. Your pictures were great - a wonderful way to make a trip report. Too bad the site is closing!

We were in Brittany and Paris in May. We saw some of the same sites, but there were many in Brittany that we didn't get to - some were on our list, but we just ran out of time. Enjoyed seeing your pictures of the sites we missed.

It's so sad that Imagestation is closing down. FWIW, I have been using Shutterfly as my preferred service for a few years now. Photo sharing is easy, and the prints and cards I have purchased are very good quality. I noticed that Imagestation is promoting moving your albums to Shutterfly, so I thought I'd put in a good word, and maybe reassure you a bit. :)

SemiMike, I enjoyed your phototravelogue very much. It is lovely to see the photos but the travelogue is so informative and inspiring. More places to add to my list. I have been to Paris many times but never Canal St. Martin. It is a definite for my next trip.

Thanks to all for your comments! This is the way share these trips with family and friends, and in creating the travelogue, I feel as if I get to "visit" these places anew! By the way, if you click on the My Albums at the top of the page, you will get to a number of earlier phototravelogues, including a number from France. Many of these have the information not in the title, but in a comment box below (as character length in the title was restricted until recently). I will reply again when all these have been move to a new, more permanent site. It is my pleasure to share these with this helpful and informative newsgroup - enjoy!

Gosh! Névez!! I lived very near there for six months, back in 1997. Was working on a campsite for the summer.

I really enjoyed your pictures as we are planning a similar trip next May.

How many days did you spend on the coastal section of Brittany? i.e., Locarnon, Douarnenez, Pont du Raz, Quimper and Carnac.

I have worried about the weather being blustery next May, but can't get away during September. Was your trip in May?

Also, what is the 'tourist train' at Carnac? I had been under the impression the highway ran very near the fields with the stones. No?

We spent 8 days in Brittany all together, and they were mainly coastal, including our B&B being only a km or so from some lovely coast scenery in the south. It was two days in the north for the Emerald and Granite Rose Coasts, one day for the Cornouaille, one day for Pont Aven and Concarneau (and some inland travel), and one day for Vannes/Auray/Carnac. The only really fully inland day was probably Rennes/Fougeres/Vitre. We did have some blustery weather, and some more spring-like - this year, it was a warm April, and a cooler May. You never know ... The tourist train at Carnac is one of those little mini-trains that one finds here and there in France at major tourist locations.

I guess when I looked at driving times on Michelin, I found it hard to picture going to all those places from one location so I'm planning 2 nights on the Rance River, 1 in Douarnenez, 1 in Ardiene (nr Quimper), then a long, long drive to Saumur. By the way, even when it was cloudy, the pictures of the coastal rocks were magnificent.

Thank you for sharing your trip! We went to some of these places a few years ago, and it was wonderful to see your pictures and remember it all over again.

Sheila, we were there for 8 nights. It was our first visit to the region, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We try to go the France every year, with the idea of north in the Spring, south in the Fall. When asked what my favorite area is, I always reply that I love them all equally, but differently, and it's really true. I am now moving my other France albums/phototravelogues to the new site, and will post the URLs here when available.

ekscrunchy, we have done this both ways in France: staying in one place for a week+, and moving frequently to new B&Bs. We find that we prefer the former: making a "home" in one place, and enjoying the unexpected finds in driving around a lot. The latter is not too bad, but we find the frequent packing/unpacking/resettling to be tiring.
