A book for Provence lovers

A fodorite's husband has written a mystery in Provence.
"A Chareau in Provence" By Charles Wood.
I met Chatles and Kathy several years ago
at a GTG in La Coste.

TPAYT Dec 15th, 2011 01:39 PM

Thanks for the tip. It looks like my kind of book.

grandmere Dec 15th, 2011 02:01 PM

Thanks, MImi; sounds good but I wonder why there aren't any reviews on Amazon? I will try it!

And speaking of mysteries about Provence, I read The Lantern by Deborah Lawrenson, after I read a review in the WSJ this summer, and it was a real disappointment. Started off well, but deteriorated. Anyone else read it?

Hi Ira: You don't need to buy a Kindle... if you can install the free application from Amazon "Kindle for PC" or "Kindle for Mac" on your computer (check required operating systems first) you can then purchase ebooks from Amazon and read them on your computer.

Or, ask Santa for a Kindle for the holidays. :D

Trophywife007 Dec 17th, 2011 10:31 AM

Oops... I think I misread your post, Ira. Nevermind!

cigalechanta Dec 17th, 2011 08:57 PM

I've ordered it but don't know ho good it is but like to foster our fodorites talents.

One of my favorite books that takes place in Provence.
THE FLY-TRUFFLER by the late Gustaf Sobin, a renown poet
from Boston but lived 35 years in Provence. It's not a happy tale. There is no travelogue, no Peter Mayle cuteness.
This small book haunted me days after.

JulieVikmanis Dec 18th, 2011 01:37 AM

Thanks. I just ordered.

RobynFrance Dec 18th, 2011 04:43 AM

There is a complete first chapter & review of The Fly-Truffler in the New York Times--thanks for the recommendation.

Chigalechanta, aren’t Charles and Cathy Wood the couple who sponsor THE LUBERON EXPERIENCE? I believe they offer these stays in Provence several times a year.

I have often perused their website. Are you familiar with the program? Sounds excellent…

Hi All,

Pour yourself a glass of Tavel Rosé, add a dash of local color, a frisson of skullduggery, sit back and enjoy.
