A birthday dinner in Sevilla
Itinerary almost set and we shifted our dates just a bit so instead of being back in NYC with my head spinning from jet lag on my 60th (gasp) birthday, we'll be in Sevilla!
what's your FAVORITE restaurant for dinner in Sevilla? I love really well-done (what I call) high-bistro. not haute. but stunning cooking and a great atmosphere. could be a courtyard setting or inside. (oct. 14). thanks! excited to research them. |
We like Petite Comitè.
|
That should be Petit Comité (spell check): www.facebook.com/petitcomitesevilla/
You can call or contact them on their Facebook page. |
Our suggestions tend more to tapas bars but that could fit your bistro description. Reservations are strongly advised everywhere - we were there in January and saw many people turned away.
One of our favourite restaurants is Vineria San Telmo - it might be a little more casual than your description but the food is fantastic (and by no means casual). I crave their squid ink pasta with fresh scallops https://www.facebook.com/vineriasantelmo/ We had a stunning lunch at Canabota (near the Parasol)-- super fresh seafood, inventively prepared: https://www.facebook.com/CanabotaSev/ On the busiest, touristiest (is that a word) restaurant street we enjoyed La Azotea and Gago 6 (based on a solid recos)-- almost side by side And we strongly agree with Robert2016 above regarding Petit Comite - delicious! We did a tapas tour with this group - we really enjoyed it and also found their blog very helpful with lots of reviews http://azahar-sevilla.com/sevilletapas/ But if you have your heart set on a beautiful courtyard this is it - Sagardi's is the Seville outpost of a Basque Restaurant so if you don't mind Basque food in Andalusia you might try it! (we ate only in the bar - had to cancel a restaurant reservation due to a bad cold) http://gruposagardi.com/en/restauran...ascos/seville/ |
have either of you (or anyone) been to con Tenedor? someone recommended it on another board and it looks very interesting.
|
|
eks - same people opened the one above on Gago - food was terrific!
|
elizabeths: do the folk who run la azotea run another one on this list? (i couldn't quite make the connection from your post.)
|
You can find the list of it's other places here: http://laazoteasevilla.com/en/
|
ebean - yes - the one ekscrunchy posted the link to and the one at 8 Mateos Gago - in this link the one I refer to is called "Santa Cruz"

thanks. i just love these suggestions and have looked through and chosen a few.
this was above and got a little lost in the sauce: have either of you (or anyone) been to con Tenedor? someone recommended it on another board and it looks very interesting. |
ebean - sorry don't know it.
eks - we have NYC dates at the end of April - GTG? |
ebean, we went to conTenedor last spring and thought it was excellent, probably our favorite meal of the trip with Petit Comite coming in a very close 2nd. It has a kind of shabby-chic relaxed atmosphere but the service was attentive and friendly. All of the TA reviews aren't lying about how good the duck with crispy rice is, an absolute must to order.

Elizabeth, I would love to!! We are in Florida now but will be driving home sometime around the 23rd of April.....when are you here and what kind of place do you want to try?? (I ask only because you know how crazy the reservation situation is in NY)
|
(i live in NYC....people getting together?? (or you might already know each other).
|
Let's plan something!
|
eks - we arrive on April 23 for 4 nights.....might that work?
(lunch or dinner) |
Different dates - arrive April 25 for 3 nights - better?
|
Bumping for esk - how is April 26th after work for a drink?
|
Well, a response 1.5 years later is better than nothing! Or maybe not!! anyway I am sorry I did not see this Elizabeth..must have been on the drive from Florida north and just missed it. Was looking around for Seville restaurants and lo and behold, found this thread! Next time you are around, do let me know!!
Looks as if Sagardi might be closed in Sevilla but will take another look at the others mentioned above....Best to all!! ek |
