A Belated Happy St. Patrick's Day To All

Erin Go Bragh... this is kinda late in the day, but have been "kid" sitting my Irish, French, Norwegian, Swedish, German grandsons- Connor Michael and Colby Michael- all day and couldn't take time to wish everyone a most happy St. Patrick's Day. They were wearing t-shirts I brought from Ireland, saying "Tis Himself", and my thoughts were in Ireland all day. Saving to go back next year, again!.....Helen

Sorry I didn't think to do this early in the day. Better late than never I suppose, so here are our wishes for a happy St. Patrick's Day from the Mediterranean Irishmen.

The weather turned out bautiful here in Dublin so it was a great day. There was a ceili afterwards with music in the streets and unfortunately a sore head for me today after the pub crawl we did yesterday. I am getting too old for this!

I unfortunately missed Shane McGowan performing in Belfast, but at least that meant I also missed thousands of little girls screaming for Girls Aloud.

Commemorating St. Patrick's Day, here is a quote from the late Cardinal Spellman about a great American of Irish ancestry:

About Al Smith:

?Undaunted and unafraid he walked through life bending his knee before his Creator and spending himself to help his fellow man. Never did he fail his God, his Country or his friends. Never did he turn away his needy neighbor who, from him, sought solace or succor. And God kept him close to His heart for He knew Al Smith?s heart and hands were ever open to help and heal the ?Little People? of His world. To these ?Little People? he was tender, tolerant, charitable and merciful ? and they saw some of God reflected in a man?

From some of the airish cookbooks I picked up in Ireland 2 years ago, I fixed a non Corned beef and cabbage dinner last night. Began with a spring salad mix topped with smoked salmon, the Irish stew (with a touch of Guinness) and finished with a raspberry fool. No complaints from the guests. Also made brown soda bread. Yum!
