9-Hour Layover

Hello. I have a 9-hour layover in Frankfurt, Germany. Any recommendations as to what to do with this time? Thanks!

I forgot to mention that I'll be there on Jan. 2.

Take the train into Frankfort and tour the old town which is very small. There is a tourist office there. You can book a Goethe bus tour which doesn't take more than a few hours. A few blocks from the train station are some interesting markets and tons of shopping and restaurants.

I also have a 9 hour layover. Can I take the train straight from the airport? How long does it take to get into Frankfurt? Do you know the names of the stops that I would get on and off? Thanks!

Go to Bad Homberg and relax at a bath. I've not yet been to the Thermalbad there but it looks great.

Frankfurt is always fun, but Mainz is also great. It's about 15 minutes by train from the airport. Much history, great old town, very walkable, great restaurants and shops, etc....

From the airport, you follow the sign for S-Bahn. Lines S8 or S9 should take you to the train station (Hauptbahnhoff). From there you can pick up nice warm big pretzels ;-) and chenge into subway (U-bahn).
I recall it costs around Eur3 or 4, but probably better to go get the day ticket from the ticket office. The ticket vending machine also takes some time to learn how to use (find the station codes, punch in the codes etc...)
The station signs are clearly posted, and you'll get a good view of the city skyline approaching the city from the airport. The whole ride takes about 20min or so, and S8/9 trains should come almost every 15 minutes or so. Very easy to navigate overall.
The botanical garden Palmengarten is also lovely but maybe less so in the middle of winter. Zell is good area for shopping.
