9 days Veneto- maybe rome?
First trip to Italy in May with 9 days on the ground with 6 people. Arriving and leaving from Venice. Should we try to fit in Rome or should we relax and enjoy all that the Veneto has to offer? We want to see Venice, Vicenza, Marostica, and Lake Garda.
Any suggestions? |
Stay north and enjoy ! Try to include Verona.

I agree with Bob. Padova would also make a nice addition to your list.

I'd stay in the Venice area. Rome is pretty far south and it would take most of a day to get there and then back to Venice. Venice is amazing. I only had 4 days there and was only able to get to Murano! I could've easily spent more time in Venice and would have loved to see the other places on your list plus Verona, Padua and Ravenna. Rome in itself could be another whole trip. relax and enjoy!

Hello skkz, I would just enjoy the beautiful Region of Veneto. Will you have a rental car?
Anyway, Veneto is so lovely and there are so many wonderful cities and smaller towns to explore. If you are not familar with it do get a guide book. Yes, relax and enjoy what Veneto has to offer. And do order the famous Prosecco wine if you are a wine drinker. |
Hi Skkz - Other places to add to your list?
Bassano del Grappa, Treviso, Asolo ... Steve |
No car rental, we were planning on taking the train or bus.
Thanks for the suggestions! |
Relax & stay north-but you MUST go to Padua-It was at the top of my places to go in 2006. Il Santo(the Basilica of St.Anthony)is reason enough but make a reservation for the Scrovegni or Arena Chapel & see history in Giotto's frescos. It has its own website & was of the highlights of my time in Italy. Good Luck
