875 for my tickets to Italy - how did you do?

I got my tickets to Italy yesterday. They were over a grand when I started watching them last month. They went down to 875 and I decided to nab them lest I be left out.

This is in May, into Venice and out of Rome, so not too bad.

Dear fly,

Once you've bought your tickets, don't keep looking.

Would it make you feel better to know that I got tickets from IAD to FCO for June for $475 pp?

I paid $902 for an open jaw; NW Arkansas to Venice, Rome to NW Ark in October. Probably paid too much but hey, it is only money. You run out... you get some more next week.

Ira -
What, when, where and how? I'm going back to Italy next year in June and have been
blown away by the prices for this year!

I got an open-jaw (October) flight from Seattle to Rome, and back home from Paris for $792. Only problem is that it is on Delta.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'll play:
Jax-Ams / CDG-Jax
$761 pp, all included for May (it hurt, too, as I had 2 years of 'free' tickets before from mileage).

$473 from Harrisburg, PA to Zurich -of course it's March so not high season but I think anything under $500 to Europe at any time is a great deal! Best was $315 Tampa-London non stop in Nov 2003 - taxes included.

Try flying from San Francisco to Venice. We are looking at about $1,900 r/t apiece for the 3 of us. I swear it was $300 cheaper when I looked early last month. I'm in shock. Wait till I spring this on my hubby.

Continental Airlines, leaving March 23, returning April 5.

But I'm not bragging It is the end of low season afterall.

SFO San Francisco to LHR London
CDG Paris to SFO San Francisco
For the two of us this May Each ticket was $660.00 total on United. We will however have to take the train from London to Paris which is an additional $180.00 I do feel happy with the price we got.

$1900 sounds like an awful lot of $$, even from the west coast, and even in high season. I'd keep looking if I were you. You'd even be better off buying SF/NYC, then NY/Venice.
When are you going?

We are leaving June 16th. I did find a cheap fare from SF to NY ($338) which is great, but when you try to do the NY to Venice thing & then the return trip, it gets expensive again. Maybe because we are leaving from Rome (July 1) and not Venice. I have been looking at the internet prices for 4 hours today and it is looking grim.

Hi,

I pd $985 (purchased Feb 26) to fly from Mpls/St Paul airport to Amsterdam to Bologna, Italy. Hope to be flying NW Airlines (strike?) Scheduled to leave for 12 days on April 7th. We are very limited in airlines we can use leaving this area, and I know we pay more due to this. The same tickets now are about $50-$100 more depending on where you look.
