8 hours stop over in Charles de Gaulle Airport

Hi!

I have an 8 hour stop over in Charles de Gaulle Airport from Frankfurt on my way to Manila, Philippines. I've never been to Paris before. Is there something that I can arrange to maximize this opportunity of being in Charles de Gaulle Airport for 8 hours?

Thanks a lot!

You will have time for a quick look at Paris, especially if your luggage will be checked through to Manila. If it isn't, you'll have to take it with you to Gare du Nord where it will be x-rayed before you can put it in storage.

At CDG buy a one-day Paris Visite pass for zones 1-5 (E16.75). This will get you into Paris on the RER B line; give you unlimited rides on the RER, Metro, bus, and Montmartre funicular; and get you back to CDG. Be aware that the RER B line divides northeast of Paris so be sure to get on a train that is going to the airport.

When you come into the city, get off at Gare du Nord, if necessary. Otherwise go further and get off at St-Michel Notre-Dame. You'll be right in front of the cathedral. Explore as time allows, have a leisurely lunch, and return to the airport. It will take a little under an hour to get there.

Visit www.ratp.fr to download and print a Metro/RER map for central Paris and a RER map that shows service to outlying zones.

I agree with TimS (actually, he agrees with me, but what's the difference?)

It's always prudent to agree with Robespierre! Seriously, while walking is a great way to explore Paris, with the limited time you'll have, you'll see a lot more by riding the bus.

One more thing, Robespierre. What are you doing up so late? It's way past a reasonable bedtime in Paris.

Robespierre doesn't live in Paris. I think he lives in Arizona or some place like that.
