8 hours layover in steaming stifling Paris
 

I've read all the threads that if it is 97 degrees F (36 degrees C) like on my upcoming 8 hour layover at CDG, that it is perfectly acceptable, in these desperate times, to strut around Paris wearing shorts and halter tops, and have a fan around your neck blowing directly at your face, with multiple water bottles hanging from your arse. And the threads about how the RER from CDG to Gare du Nord is what the devil him- (lets not limit ourselves: also perhaps her?)- self had planned all along - - swelteringly unbearable even when it is an otherwise digestible 77 degrees F outside.

So, with my 8 hour layover at CDG a week from now, where it will be hell's bells hot - - iconic hot - - I thought: why not take the bus #630 for 25 minutes up to Senlis, and, after that lovely comfy little traverse, find it so unbearable in that picturesque haven that I immediately high-tail it back to CDG on the next available - - but at least I got out of the lounge for a couple of hours.

Does anybody know if the #630 from CDG to Senlis is air conditioned? (Or, as an alternative, have a better suggestion for a luvly time away from CDG!) THANKS ALL !!!

I would take Paris. CDG to Paris each way is ~1 hour (45 mins if lucky and time it exactly) from the train. You need to budget min 2 hours to check back in. It will probably take you 1 hour to get out of CDG. That leaves you 3 hours in Paris.

For me, it would be worth doing since as you said 8 hours in CDG is too long especially without a lounge and those are not as accessible as NA lounges.

Not sure why you think you need to go through Gare du Nord but you don't need it to get to central Paris. Are you familiar with Paris? If so, it becomes easier to do.

I have only done this with 24 hour layovers (3 times) but what I normally like to do is walk around the Seine and visit either Louvre or D'Orsay.

For 3 hours, I would just walk around the Seine and Notre Dame area and see it from the outside. Look into Bateau Bus. Its a 20 euro day pass that allows you to take a boat on the Seine and take you to the 8 main spots or so around it. You get to see Paris, enjoy a boat tour and get to where you want rather quickly.

Pick a spot to have lunch (maybe where there is shade) and people watch. Or get some shade in the Luxumburg garden.

You could book a car service. It would be pricey but...it's Paris!

I was just Googling about air conditioning in the local busses near CDG - - and the responses mention that the Roissybus to Opera is air-conditioned. And it goes every 15 minutes. Hmmm...
