>>Antibes has a sandy beach, as is the beach in Cannes according to the pictures.<<

Yep - and the famous Pampelonne beach (Tahiti Plage, Club 55, etc) is beautiful sand also.

Visiting Monte Carlo instead of St Paul, Tourrettes sur Loup, and Vence is "reverse" "quaint villages".

Agree with Monte Carlo, not worth taking time from other places that are much more interesting.

Villefranche has a lovely sandy beach and lots of little places to explore. A quick train ride from Nice and lots of quaint spots to eat; a quaint village for sure.

You will not regret the south of France. I did a 10 day trip last spring and it was amazing. I did do it in March so the crowds were almost nil. I stayed away from the bigger cities, which gave me a real experience of a beautiful area. Aix-en Provence (amazing small city) Avignon (Palace of the Popes), Monpieler (beautiful and historic), Biarritz (great food, beautiful beach, great shopping),and Bordeaux (a bit north, but worth going for the wine and food). Not a fan of Marseille as to many people and crime. A trip to Monacco can be ok, but not a must do at all. Enjoy the great flowers in the south in June, the food, wine, and most of all the people. Very friendly and many speak English, although try to speak a little Frence and they will appreciate it a great deal.

Are there cheaper airlines from LHR to Nice and Marsielles to LHR. British Airways is showing a cost of ~$237 with no decent connections. Thanks

Look for airlines that go to Stansted or Gatwick.

Prices in the region of $237 is cheap for a fare to Nice in June on BA from LHR, assuming that is a return fare. You would get 23kilos of luggage included in that fare.

Easyjet fly from LGW and STN to Nice. Bear in mind if you fly from STN, it is a long way out of London so it would cost more to get to that airport plus with low cost carriers, you pay extra for luggage and speedy boarding etc.

British Airways also fly to Marseilles from Gatwick.
