8 days Paris $499

EuropeAsap.com runs $499 Paris winter special for 8 days!!! Flight, hotel and breakfasts included.

francophile03 Jan 18th, 2006 08:53 AM

What's the hotel's name?

Tries2PakLite Jan 18th, 2006 09:22 AM

You get a choice of hotels. You can also do a 3 night stay. It seems very reasonable.

the $499 version is the Timotel Nation... in the 20th and others listed...and the price goes up..but still, it IS reasonable. Sigh...I wish

nytraveler Jan 18th, 2006 10:48 AM

Whether or not it's reasonable depends on if you're willing to travel in the winter (with all the possible delays implied - esp important on such a short trip) and what you want/expect from a hotel (location, amenities etc).

It is not all that winter...March.
We went 2 years ago and it was great!
For price like this you can't do Florida.
Why some people never happy about anything. Do not go if you don't want to!!! I just shared for those who WANT to go. Good bye

P.S. 8 Days short trip??? OMG!

BTW for those who WANTs to know Lufthanza has a fab sale like $384 to a lot of spots until March,31.

I went to the site.

For travel in late March, leaving from NYC, staying at the Timhotel Nation, price with taxes and fees is $847.50 pp dbl = $1695

Flight is not specified.

The Timhotel website offers a dbl room for the same time period for 367E = $440.

RT airfare NYC/CDG Non-Stop is $405 pp at www.mobissimo.com.

Special offer 1695
DIY 1250

Xtra cost of offer = 445.

well, it is really about break even. It is true that Air France is having some good airfare sales in early march for around $405, and it is only 6 nights hotel so you could easily get a cheap hotel for around $50 a person, for a total of around $700 per person doing it yourself. Which is exactly that same quote as that package, I checked it myself -- it is also about $700 per person in early march (from NYC). so, I think it is good for people to realize that often you can make up these packages for about the same price, but the package isn't $800 a person so that must be because lat March is a higher rate period on that website than early March. Or else you didn't deduct the insurance they throw in which you do not have to buy, and maybe chose a more expensive day of the week.

It's about a wash, I think.

"Price does not include tax, insurance or delivery charges”. This is where they get you. This will be several hundred dollars. Gone are the days when the taxes were $65 to $90 dollars a head.

Don’t forget the add-ones, are they reasonable priced?

Gone are the days when they provide transfers, this can add up.

Plus count the number of nights, 3 in add I saw. This may be a great opportunity to select a better hotel to extend your stay in another part of town. Extend the return flight date, staying away from more expensive weekend rates.

In the end, you get what you pay for. Yes, in Paris its great to go into new neighborhoods but time is money, especially when on vacation. You may want to be somewhere centrally located. Money saved on Metro cards could be applied to your hotel. Also, being able to walk around the historic districts and along the river in the evening is priceless.

The less time I spend in the room the better. If the room is big and comfortable, has plenty of hot water, plenty of fresh towels, no lumps in the bed, the breakfasts are good and varied, and at some point hotel guests don’t go screaming in the middle of the night- this not any Parisian hotel that I've ever stayed at.

Research and perhaps you, with the help of the Fodorites, can do just as good on your own.

In the end this is Paris and you will love being there no matter.

You can get 50-Euro TimHotel double/twin rooms for various nights with Bancotel:
http://www.bancotel.es
Otherwise, there seem to be no shortage of apparently reasonable-quality hotels in the outer arrondisements for which you could get a double room for 70 Euros or less.

Taxes and other fees on airline tickets are amazing. We took advantage of an Airfrance sale last year for travel this March-RT to CDG from Boston $199 and for $5 RT to Marseille from CDG. Cost of base tickets $204; cost of total tickets (with taxes and things like Homeland Security charges) $423 over twice the base cost. Gives you an idea of why airfare is so high.
