Hello SShprints. I'm a Sardinian and I assure You that You have chosen the best time to come to Sardinia : still warm but not hot, no tourists, no people on the beaches. You can go anywhere with no
problem to find a room in a hotel and prices are lower. Of course Costa Smeralda deserves a visit, but a very short one: it's not there that You'll find the best landscapes( on this point I agree with Peter and Pvoyageuse).I mean that in Sardinia it's the time You choose that makes the difference, not the location. For instance, how can You tell that Punta M o l e n t I s, NORTH of Villasimius is more attractive than Cala P I r a, only a few km north? Or Cala M a r I o l u more attractive than N e b I d a? It's impossible to answer that. For instance, the Hotel Le Dune ,on the western coast, is a really astonishing location : an old mine building converted in a luxury hotel, just in front of the sea, with the highest sand dunes of Italy behind, and if You're lucky, at sunset You hear the bell of a deer? So my suggestion is: rent a car, get a good map and wander around. Follow Your mood or your curiosity, if You like a location ,stay there: it is Your discovery, not somebody's else. No problem in late September. Have a good stay and let me know. |

Welcome to Fodors. When posting it is good to look at the thread's dates. SShprints went to Sardinia in Sept 2011. |

Shardeh: instead of tacking on to a three year old thread, you might do better to start a new thread of your own. . .

Janisj,
I thought maybe someone that has been there on the above conversations will see this and reply. I usually post on tripadvisor and there you get an email when someone comments, I guess here is different!!!! |
Hi saradeh - yes a bit different from TA. Here's a link to our Sardinia blog from February 2013. We went from south to north as you'll see - happy to answer questions.

Saradeh: no, you don't get notification here. If you want info, you should start a thread, and then check back in to see what info as been posted.
