8-day itinerary needs review

My husband and I are planning a trip in May to Italy. We would appreciate any suggestions.
We'll be arriving in Milan (8am) on the 12th and then taking the bus to Bellagio for 2 nights and hopefully unwind from the flight from Texas.
On the 14th we'll take the bus to Milan & then the fast train to Florence where we'll stay for 2 nights.
On the 16th we've hired a driver to pick us up at the hotel in the am and show us some of the hilltowns on our way to Montalcino. We'll stay 2 nights there and then head back to Milan for our flight home on the 19th. We are on a wait list to leave from Rome so we wouldn't have to back track to Milan but we'll have to wait and see. I've made reservations for Bellagio (LaPergola),
Florence (Beacci Tornabuoni) and Montalcino(Hotel Vecchia Oliviera)leaving the last night open until we find out about the departure. I hope this makes sense.

Darnwright, sounds a bit too hectic. When I went recently, I spent 2 days in Bologna and wished I had planned on at least 3! I think 3 or 4 is just enough to give you a taste for a locale.

FWIW.

I'm pretty sure you haven't received much response is because you don't mention Italy in your title. "8-day itinerary needs review" could be asking about anywhere in Europe - you want folks who know a lot about Italy to see/read your questions.

Try re-posting w/ something like "8-day Milan/Florence/Montalcino itinerary needs review"

How are you getting from Montalcino to Milan?

janis thanks for the tip on re-posting. This is all new for me.
uhoh_busted,If we can't change our departure flight to Rome we'll have to take a bus/train to Florence and then fast train to Milan.
