8 day eurorail trip

i must start in frankfurt on 9/15 and depart in frankfurt on 9/23 . I was thinking of doing a railpass and going frankfurt to amsterdam,to paris,to interlacken, to munich, back to frankfurt. Is this to much ???

Hi shadrap,

Yes, sorry, I do think it is too much. You won't have any time to do anything but touch ground at your stop before you move on. You'll only be able to say that you've been there, but won't have any real experience with the city.

Suggest you drop two or three destinations, and also fly open-jaw (no more than simple round-trip). Try something like Frankfurt, Amsterdam, & Paris.

Hi S,

Have you checked the train schedules at www.bahn.de.

Have you looked at prices on www.bahn.de and www.voyages-sncf.fr? You might not want a railpass.

Interlaken is a real outlier - about 6 hr from Paris and 7 hr to Munich.

You could take the new TGVEst from Paris to Strasbourg - 2 hr and then on to Munich - 4 hr.

Your plan requires 24 hr of train rides - 2-3 sightseeing days out of 7. My plan is still 2 days on the train.

Why not fly into Amsterdam and out of Paris and actually enjoy your visit?

5 cities so far apart by train is way too much for an 8 day trip imo!!

Because of the dates, etc - I'll assume you alrerady bought your tickets. if so - you'll have to make the best of it -- open jaw would have been much better though.

You simply do not have enough time to see all those places and travel that far -- unless riding trains and visiting train stations are your primary reason for this trip.
