7days trip in Romania is it doable?
 

we are planning a 7 days trip in Romanina in September. We want to take a car and see Bucharest, Transylvania (Poiana Brashov, Ardial, Sigisuara, Sibiu), Iasi (is that in Transylvania?, a little bit of the painted monasteries and Marmures.
Is that doable in 7 days? what do you suggest as the best itiniary?

Transylvania (or Ardeal) is in NW of Romania, and Sighisoara, Sibiu and Brasov are towns in it. Maramures is in nord of Romania; Iasi is in Moldova (the part of E of Romania ). Bucharest - the capital is in Muntenia, is ~ 150 km from Brasov.

I think that to see all these in 7 days you will spend too much time on the roads.

Iasi is in Moldavia, the English term for the region of Romania that abuts the country called Moldova. It's a long drive from the painted monasteries round Suceava, and - unless you're interested in the clone of St Pancras station that used to be its royal palace, or some defunct textile mills - it's hard to see the point of going there.

Leave it out, and you ought to be able to manage the rest reasonably comfortably in the time. Don't waste much of it in Bucharest. The city's main airport is on the way to the north hire your car and drive straight to Brasov.

Driving in Romania is not like driving
in other countries. We averaged
about 35 mi/hr. The roads are not
very good, a lot of potholes. They
do try hard to fix them, but it takes
a long time.
We were there at the end of the rainy
season, so they had just begun to
repair them. We also had snow. The
people had already planted their
flowers and vegetables.
You will be reponsible for any damage
to the undercarriage of the car.
Anyway, it is slow driving.
I loved the country and the people
are so friendly and asked us to please
come back.

Thanks, for all your replies. I will consider not going to the painted menasteries if the rest is doable. do you know the driving time between those places? Bucharest - Brashov - sibiu -sigisuara - iasi - Marmures?

I would leave Lasi out. We didn't
go as far Suceava and we saw many
Monasteries. I wouldn't miss them.
