I didn't get an answer in the Airlines section so I thought I'd post it in here. <BR> <BR>Has anyone here flown on a 777 and is there a difference in the leg room (than a 747) because it is a larger plane? Or do they just cram more seats in there so there's really no difference in the leg room? I'll be traveling steerage...I mean coach. <BR> <BR>Thanks much! Merry X-Mas!

It depends on the airline, they are the ones who decide on the seating plan and pitch. And the company (Boeing) would just follow their instructions. Personally at 6'2" I think that BA's seat pitch (legroom) on the 777 is very good, at least on the ones I've flown out of Boston. HTH Regards, Walter <BR>

I've flown Continental 777's. I'm only 5-4, had an aisle seat, so it was fairly comfortable for me. The best though is the entertainment system on every seat, even in coach, so it really helps to pass the time. Anyway, if its taking you to Europe, best to grin and bear anything...(of course, as I said, I'm only 5-4 :)

I have flown often on United 777's LHR- SFO they are fine - hot tip row 30...opps shouldn't give the game away...if you can't get that try to be in the front section of coach, the back is noisy - 2 x 95,000hp engines are better behind you than in frontof you! or its earplug time!

Check on the airline's website. They usually provide info about seating pitch/width and cabin capacities. <BR> <BR>To give you an idea, I felt more cramped in a Delta 777 than their 767. Just checked the site and seat width on the 777 is 17", it's 18" on the 767. <BR> <BR>If it's legroom you need, try to get an exit row seat.

Flown the BA 777 once; other than the amenities like the video screen and the REALLY noisy engines (I'm one of those weirdos who like BIG engine noises - blame it on my misspent youth around street runners), I didn't see any differences from other BA planes.

Thanks everyone for your valuable feedback! I am flying on American. I will check out their website to get the specific dimensions of the plane. I am average height, 5'6". As someone mentioned earlier....this wonderful aircraft is taking me to Europe so I'll be thrilled to sit anywhere on it actually! I flew 777's 2x's last summer - both on British Airways. I am 5'4" and I barely had room for my knees. The guy in front of my husband put his seat back and my husband had no room to move. My back hurt because the seats are designed for much larger people and the seats are too deep, the head rests, push my head forward. <BR> <BR>I flew on an Air France Airbus last Nov. and had a fabulous flight. Check the seat distance before you buy or you'll be standing in the corners counting the hours.

The make and model of the aircraft has very little to do with how tightly the seats are packed in. If you fly cattle class or steerage, you get treated like a cow or an indigent immigrant!! <BR>I flew Air France from Atlanta to Paris and back last year. I had hoped the 777 would be more comfortable than the others. Well, so much for that. The seating was so tight that I rode standing much of the way because it was so uncomfortable to sit. There were, however, a few groups of 3 seats that were next to the galley and those guys had 5 feet of leg room. <BR>They must have been friends of the CEO is all I can figure. <BR>But most airlines pack 'em in; the more victims the more money. I am not sure when the market will spin out otherwise, because the trend seems to be toward tighter and tighter as the bean counters multiply out the revenue figures and the computers spit out price levels based on maximized yield management figures. <BR>
