77 degrees in Paris - What are women wearing?
 

I like to blend in as much as possible when I travel. DH and I are headed to Paris and a tour of France beginning May 15.
WHat are women wearing in this weather?
Do they wear capri pants? Shorts? Long pants? I find skirts uncomfortable for walking (embarassed by fat and chafing thighs). I wear "SKORTS" that look like short skirts.
Suggestions appreciated.

Skirts and long pants. No skorts. No shorts for the over 12's unless you are of supermodel proportions.

We just returned from there, and had a few warmish days over the weekend. As soon as the temperature rose, all scarves were shed, and I saw many skirts and tank tops. In fact, I didn't really think people were dressed that much differently than they dress here during the summer.

We wore jeans and short-sleeve tshirts during the warm days, but I wish I had something cooler to wear. I had only closed-toe shoes, but I sure wish I had some sandals.

And here's the solution for the, um, problem that most of us have with skirts and dresses in warm weather: turn them into skorts. Not really, of course, but functionally, by wearing shorts under your skirt. These aren't real shorts, but underwear that serves the same purpose. One version is something called pettipants (hm, not sure about that spelling), made of the same sort of fabric as a slip, so loose and lightweight. The other is more like bike shorts, so they're form fitting. My favorite version of these is sold at Target under the name "Assets" (same maker as "Spanx"). You can get a smaller size to take advantage of the body shaping features of the product, or buy a size up and just use them to prevent chafing in the summer. I use the ones that come to mid-thigh.

I find them much more comfortable than conventional shorts, and I'm not limited in the type or number of skirts and dresses that I can wear.

Heh heh. Well, Promod does target a relatively young demographic, but I'm no girl and find lots of appropriate things there. I'm definitely going to be checking out Promod next week when I'm in Budapest.

I'd wear casual pants with comfortable but reasonably stylish sandals. A solid colored top of some sort with a light jacket or sweater than could go over that. I also like capri or gaucho length for myself as well when the weather's warmer.

No skirts, shorts, or skorts (for me).

Danon the models are young but they suit every age, I'm no girl either. I agree with Therese about finding appropriate clothes there.
BTW what are skorts? If someone could post a link to a picture because I have no idea!

Lobo's link shows a couple of skorts. They're basically shorts that have an additional panel of fabric across either the front or the front and back, such that they look, at least from the front, like a skirt (albeit often a fairly short skirt, a bit like a tennis dress).

These were called skooter skirts back when I was young (and I can recall a particular fetching navy blue jump suit version, trimmed in white rick rack that I wore when I was 10).

I don't like them, as they're at least as warm as shorts (extra fabric and all) and are tailored rather than loose and flowing, and I really like things that are a bit loose and flowing in warm weather. The breeze is my friend.

Thanks Lobo, I don't think I've ever seen that sort of clothes here, and I would not wear them in the street since they look like tiny skirts!
I'm wearing shorts right now but in my garden only ;-)
