7 nighs in Trentino-South tyrol...too much ?

Hi !

We (2 adults and 2 kids of 7 ans 11)are making a 28 nights road trip starting and Ending in venice. Venice-Istria-Plitvice-Zagreb- Ljubljana(and elsewhere in Slovenia)- Verona and South Tyrol.

Many lodging in the mountains ask for a 7 nights stay and we found one that looks great and who got a good price. The appartement is in Laion (Lajen). From there we have figure we could go in Bolzano (a 40 minutes car ride), Brassanone, do some cable car around Ortisei...and...thats about it.

We are not avid hikers, we do like some walking but not intensive (the 7 years old gets tired easily) so 5 days of hiking is out of question.

Can we still manage to have some fun and sightseeing in 7 days or this is really too much ?

any ideas/ suggestion are very welcome !

I don't know the area well, having been only for brief visits. However, relatives of ours spend a week in that area at least once a year, often twice. They've been doing this since their son was a toddler, so I assume hiking isn't the only thing to do. I know they used to do some hiking with him even when he was little, though.

On the other hand, if you'd rather spend less time there, go to www.booking.com and enter Alto Adige as your destination. Request the dates you'd prefer (preferably avoiding weekends) and filter for the amenities and type of structure you want. To avoid cities, include hiking and scenery among the other amenities. Look for high guest ratings, and read the reviews. Don't filter for number of stars, because they are meaningless, if not nonexistent, for nmost of these lodgings.

It's a great area to tour. Bolzano, and the are above it, are nice. The museum in Bolzano is interesting. Staying again in Ortesei this year and Cortina as well.have fun.

According to your previous threads, you rented this apartment at Waidbruck/Ponte Gardena 5 months ago.
As it's not far away from the Brenner motorway, you can rapidly drive to almost all parts of Trentino - Alto Adige: medieval cities, castles and gondolas to mountain peaks. There is stuff for more than 1 week..
