7 days touring Wales, Cotswald, or Lake District?
My husband and I are visiting the UK in late September-Early October. After 7 days in London, we will be able to spend an additional 7 days touring and I am undecided where to visit. We plan to see the sights along the way, and hopefully take in some day hikes as well. We will have to return to London for our flight home. I am considering northern Wales, the Cotswalds, or the Lake District. We are not fond of crowds. Does anyone have any advice?

All three (it is the Cotswolds BTW) would make a fine base for your 7 days of walking/hiking/sites. None will be crowded in early October.
The Cotswolds are mostly small villages/towns/gardens/gentle scenery North Wales is mostly magnificent castles/mountain scenery/interesting towns. The Lake District is lake/mountain scenery/literary connections You can't go wrong which ever you choose -- we really can't choose fo ryou since everyone has different likes/expectations. |
I think there must be a place called "Cotswald" in a parallel universe somewhere, as so many people ask about it!

It's the site of Stonehedge

It's next door to Sterling!

I agree, it depends on your likes and dislikes. I haven't been to Wales, but have been to both of the Lakes and the Cotswolds. Hiking in both, more challenging in the Lakes, probably even more challenging in Wales.
The Lakes is also the farthest, but is certainly worth the trip, it's enchanting. |
