$648 Chicago-Rome Sept. Airfare
I have just booked $648 airfares through www.expedia.com for Sept. 3-12 travel from Chicago to Rome. The first leg is with Air India, with a short stop over in Frankfort, transferring to a Lufthansa flight into Rome. I saw the same fares into Milan (LIN airport), Turin, and Venice. Don't know about any other departure cities.
While I was playing with dates, etc. the price changed to over $4,000, and when I called expedia, they told me that the fares were being updated, and to try back in an hour. The lower fares were back up within the hour. Good Luck! |
Congratulations on a great fare find.
I've been searching for fares for New Orleans-Rome for Sept/Oct and haven't come anywhere close to that one. |
Very good price, Sandy.

Great find! We also found a short-lived great deal to Italy for September. We got open-jawed tickets from Newark - Venice and returning Rome - Newark for $572 pp on Tap Air (Portugal) for Sept. 16 - 26. The other tickets for those dates start around $800-$900.
Any other good finds out there? Kelly |
SandyB: great fare and please tell us this did not happen in the middle of the night on a Wednesday!!!

We live in the midwest and have a fair amount of frequent flyer miles (but not enough to get free flights to Europe). It's cheaper to fly from the coast, so we may use frequent flyer miles to/from the east coast, then pay the lower ticket fare from there. (We did this on a trip to Australia and NZ a few years ago, paying for flights to/from LAX, and it saved us about $400 per ticket.)
We're looking at round trip fares of $662 for Newark/Milan on Continental on their Web site in October. We'll use frequent flyer miles round trip MSP/EWR. |
